Compiled by the Library of the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI), the Index to Antarctic Expeditions is intended to provide one-touch access to information available on the Internet relating to specific expeditions (historic and selected modern). In addition to linking to the best summaries we have been able to trace (some compiled at SPRI, others on Antarctic Philately), this index provide near-comprehensive access to published literature as well as to photographs and pictures in the SPRI Picture Library. In the future, as we are able to complete cataloguing of other SPRI collections (Archives, Museum, etc.), we plan to extend the Index to cover these also.

Publications and photographs are retrieved by searches run on the Institute's databases SPRILIB Antarctica and Polar Pictures. Both of these databases may be accessed separately for more sophisticated searching (e.g. by place, subject, photographer, etc.).
