We are actively seeking new PhD research students across all subject areas presented across the SPRI webpages. If you have a potential PhD topic you would like to discuss with us, please contact the relevant potential supervisor to discuss it at the earliest opportunity. Further important information about the application process can be found at the Department of Geography's web site 'How to apply for a PhD'. If you wish to be considered for a GATES US scholarship you must apply by 12th October 2022 (including references). To be considered for all other scholarships or studentships you must apply by 1st December 2022 (including references).

Potential funding for PhD projects in the social sciences and humanities is offered through the Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, the Cambridge ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership, the Cambridge Trust, Gates Cambridge, colleges and other funds.
Potential funding for PhD projects in the physical sciences is offered through the Cambridge NERC Earth Systems Science Doctoral Training Programme, the Cambridge Trust, Gates Cambridge, colleges and other funds.
Details regarding the finances for the course (fees and maintenance) and sources of funding are available from the main University Postgraduate Admissions webpage. These include different sources of funding based on topic, background of the applicant and other factors. Consideration for some awards is automatic with your application, but some awards require you to apply specifically.
