Edward Morrison was born in 1870 in Dundee. Morrison first went to the Antarctic on board the Terra Nova as a relief ship for the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-04 (Discovery). He joined the British Antarctic Expedition 1907-09 (Nimrod) at the age of 37 as sailmaker for the first Antarctic voyage of the expedition, and left in May 1908, two months after Nimrod returned to Lyttelton, New Zealand. Very little is known about Morrison's later life.
