A piece of the James Caird, the boat used on the journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-16 (Endurance), in a cardboard box with a handwritten inscription on the side.

Physical description:

A wooden fragment from the James Caird, in a green cardboard box with a plastic lid. Handwritten on the side of the box is the inscription: 'A piece of the "JAMES CAIRD" which Wuzz navigated from Elephant Island to S. Georgia with Shackleton, Crean, McNeish, McCarthy, Vincent. April 24th to May 10th 1915.'
