An unopened tin of cocoa, with a printed label reading: 'Carson's cocoa. Specially prepared for Sir Ernest H. Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic (Endurance) Expedition'. It was retrieved from Elephant Island by T.H. Orde Lees, store-keeper on the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-16 (Elephant Island).
