An unopened tin of chocolates in printed paper wrapper: 'Carson's chocolate. Specially prepared for Sir Ernest H. Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic (Endurance) Expedition'. The tin was retrieved from Elephant Island by T.H. Orde Lees, the expedition's store-keeper.
Physical description:
An metal unopened box, wrapped in brown paper and printed on the top, front and back with 'CARSON'S CHOCOLATE // SPECIALLY PREPARED FOR // SIR ERNEST H. SHACKLETON'S Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. // Made in Great Britain.' There is a gold seal on one end of the box with the words 'CHOCOLAT // CARSON'.
