A metal square made by J. Langlois of Paris. One of a set of five drawing instruments which belonged to Sir Ernest Shackleton.
Physical description:
A brass-coloured metal square. It consists of two arms at right angles, hinged where they join and with a metal pin for fastening closed. One arm is marked 'Demy Pied De Roy', and has a scale in French inches (27mm) from 0-6; the other is marked 'J. Langlois Paris.' and 'Echele', and has a smaller scale from 0-200.
