A waterproof cloth wallet which held Alexander Macklin's journal from the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-16 (Endurance). It is marked with the initial 'M'.
Physical description:
A green-brown waxed cloth wallet, with a piece of cloth in either side to give the wallet depth. It has a flap closure with two buttonholes; there are marks of four buttons but only one black plastic button and one metal button with a lion and the letters 'RTYT' are present. The initial 'M' has been stitched in the centre of the flap.
