A metal dipper from one of the water barricoes of the James Caird in which Ernest Shackleton voyaged from Elephant Island to South Georgia in 1916 during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-16 (Endurance).

Physical description:

A cylindrical metal tube, made from a sheet of metal, seamed along its length, and with one closed end. There is a lip around the open end, with a short slit in one side.
