Full description:

A pair of wooden skis. Each ski has a pointed and up-curved tip, and a square tail. The top surface is decorated with incised lines which run the length of the ski and converge at the tip. There is a central groove on the underside of the ski which runs for most of the length of the ski. Stamped on the underside of each ski at the tip is 'L.H. HAGEN & CO // CHRISTIANA'. (a) is carved neatly with the letter 'B' and is scratched with the name 'BOWERS'; (b) is carved with the initials 'HRB' (Henry Robertson Bowers). The foot plate consists of a rubber-coated textile fixed in place with metal nails (missing on (b)). The binding consists of a toe iron (slotted through the ski) with a leather heel strap with metal buckles. The toe iron is stamped 'HUITFELT // PATENT' and 'L.H. HAGEN'.
