a: Musk ox. Body (a) is carved from a single piece of black soapstone standing with left feet slightly ahead of right feet. Eyes, nostrils, mouth and triangular ears are incised. Curved horns (b,c) are made from musk ox horn. One end of each forms a peg which is inserted into hole and groove on each side of head. Incised underneath: syllabics Simon Akpaleeapik. b: Musk ox.
