A rectangular wooden writing case with a hinged lid (paper hinge) which has become completely detached. The outside of the case and lid is covered with purple faux leather (textured paper).There is a metal clasp and keyhole on the front of the case, marked 'BRITISH MAKE', and two metal D-rings (one of which has become detached and is loose inside the case). The inside of the box is painted purple, and there are traces of purple ribbons for holding the lid open. Inside the lid are three full-width pockets, two smaller pockets, and a loop for pens. In the base of the case is a purple wooden board holding several sheets of writing paper, with a purple tab to help lift it out of the box; the underside of this board has traces of green sealing wax.
