Full description:

A cream-coloured, long-sleeved, knitted woollen vest with tight cuffs. The hem has been folded and stitched, and all seams have been reinforced on the inside with textile tape. The sleeves have an underarm gusset. The left shoulder has a flap which is fastened by means of three shell buttons. The vest has been modified by the wearer – the neckline has been widened and holes have been deliberately cut under each arm (probably for ventilation). There is evidence of darning in the right armpit. Inside the neck are two labels (which appear to have originally been one and from which the centre is now missing) reading 'E' and 'on'. There are also some additional red stitches on the inside of the left shoulder (similar stitching is found on Y: 83/9/1).
