Description: A piece of the flag hoisted by Captain Robert Falcon Scott at the South Pole in 1912 during the British Antarctic Expedition 1910-13 (Terra Nova). In one of his last letters to his wife, Scott requested that a small piece of the flag be sent to King George and Queen Alexandra.

Full description:

A piece of woven red textile, from a flag, in a gold-painted metal frame with a card back and metal stand. There is a handwritten paper label inside the front edge of the frame reading 'Piece of the flag hoisted at the S. Pole by Capt. R.F. Scott R.N. 1912'. Handwritten on the back of the frame is 'Capt. Sir David Wilson Barker'.
