A long-handled flensing knife with a wide, curved blade. The blade is stamped 'AAE'. The tang goes inside the wooden handle and is riveted in place, and secured with a metal ferrule. The handle is oval in cross section, with three notches carved into the base near the blade and the initials 'JS' carved at the opposite end. The words 'ANTARCTIC WHALING EXPEDITION // 1956/7 SEASON' have been painted in black, and the handle has been varnished. |
