Description: A cylindrical metal tin containing four nozzles and two relays. From the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1955-58 and part of a sledging box (Y: 59/8/4/1) containing integrating motor pneumotachograph (IMP) equipment, used for determining energy expenditure by analysing expired air to calculate oxygen consumption.

Full description:

A cylindrical metal tin with a round screw-on lid embossed 'EVANS' (Evans Medical Supplies Ltd). Inside the lid is a cork disc with a plastic coating. The side of the tin is marked in black pen with 'RELAY // & // NOZZLES' and faintly with '2 RELAY'. The tin contains four brass nozzles (20mm in length) wrapped in tissue paper. Each nozzle has a screw thread hole and is stamped '3'. The tin also contains two relays in sealed plastic packets, one of which is marked 'Z530040'.
