goggles (a): A pair of goggles with Bakelite eye pieces (a) in a leather case (b). The goggles consist of a cream-coloured plastic frame, nose pads and arms, with black Bakelite eye pieces with horizontal slits, and black Bakelite side pieces with horizontal slits. Glued to the lower half of each eye and side piece is a leather cheek guard, and a strip of leather is glued to the top of the frame – presumably to prevent draughts. case (b): The case is made of leather with a metal press stud for fastening, and inside the case is a piece of wood upon which the goggles rest. The top right corner of the flap which forms the lid has been cut away – this appears to be an original modification. |
