Y: 54/22/1: Kayak (1), two-hole type with upturned bifid bow, vertical stern and ridged deck. Frame is made of wood with gunwales, keelson, four side stringers, 5 bent ribs, 2 circular cockpit coamings, longitudinal deck batton, cross beams on each side of the cockpits, rectangular stern and bifid stem-piece visible. Frame is covered with translucent seal skin ? secured with sinew stitching along the deck, bottom, mid-section, stem and stern. Red. green and black wool yarn tufts are caught between the stitches on the deck, stem and stern. Four dehaired seal skin cross straps secured with red wool yarn tufts and black thread are stretched across the deck. Blue paint on deck beside foreward cockpit. Wooden carving of the upper torso of a man (2) is inserted into foreward cockpit. Figure is wearing a sea mammal intestine parka sewn with black thread over an underlayer of cream fabric and a triangular wooden hat with flat top decorated with red, blue and green paint. Facial features are carved; eyebrows, eyes, mouth, chin and upper lip are outlined in pencil; line of red paint across bridge of nose and cheeks. Hair is painted black; hands are each two metal pegs. Left arm is outstretched holding curved wooden bow (4) painted in alternating bands of blue and red; right arm is bent holding bowstring of beige thread.
