Full description: |
Y: 52/28/1: An adjustable articulated crampon for the right foot with ten points (six on the front and four on the back). Both the width of the front part of the crampon and the length of the crampon can be adjusted. Each half of the crampon is made from metal with protrusions which have been bent upwards and rolled over at the top (two at the toe and two at the sides on the front, and two at the heel on the back); there is a metal ring through all except those at the toe. The points are formed from protrusions which have been bent downwards. The front and back are connected by two interlocking metal bars which can be adjusted at the back to adjust the length of the crampon. The toe is made in three parts – two side pieces and a back piece. The side pieces are joined at the toe by two metal rivets; and are fixed to either side of the back piece with a metal screw. There are several holes through which the screw can be fixed, enabling the width of the crampon to be adjusted. There is a canvas strap with metal buckle attached to the rings at the front as a toe strap, and the same at the back as a heel strap. The crampon is marked 'F. SIMOND // CHAMONIX', 'Gripon' and 'BR[…?] // S.G.D.C.'.
Y: 52/28/2: An adjustable articulated crampon for the left foot with ten points (six on the front and four on the back). The construction is as for Y: 52/28/1. The crampon is broken, with a piece of wire being used in place of one of the metal bars which connects the two parts together. The crampon is marked 'F. SIMOND // CHAMONIX', 'Gripon' and 'BR[…?] // S.G.D.C.'.
