A needle case carved from walrus ivory into the shape of a naked human with arms by their sides. Perforated through head, shoulder and both feet for inserting needles into the hollow cavity of the body. A further, smaller perforation is also visible through the backside of the human figure in place of the anus, and several perforations in the face in the place of eyes, nostrils and mouth. A historic paper label is tied around the neck of the figure. |
