Description: | An oblong leather, embroidered seal-skin mirror case consisting of two pieces of white skin stitched together with red skin trim between the edges, with an opening at the base to insert a mirror and second a circular opening in the centre of one face for viewing a mirror glass (not present). A small perforated lobe extends beneath the first opening. The face on one side around the mirror opening is embroidered with a geometric avitat pattern in green, red, blue and tan leather. Textile thread has been used for the stitching throughout. Collected by Professor Lawrence Rickard and Phyllis Wager during the British East Greenland Expedition, 1935-36. | ||||||

A seal-skin mirror case consisting of two oblng pieces of white skin stitched together with red skin as trim between the edges. There is an opening at the base with a small perforated lobe beneath to insert a mirror. A second a circular opening in the centre of one oblong face for viewing a mirror glass (not present) has also been cut. This face around the mirror opening is also embroidered with a geometric avitat pattern in green, red, blue and tan leather. Textile thread has been used for the stitching throughout. Black cotton has been used for the avitat and coarser thread used for the structure. |
