Title: Cartridge belt
Description: An embroidered, dark blue leather cartridge belt with white leather trim and a clasp of ivory fastened by two leather thongs with three caribou teeth on each. Space for nine shotgun cartridges and fourteen rifle rounds is made in two red outer strips of leather with white trim and two white bands of leather along their length. The back is decorated with coloured leather avitat embroidery in three symmetrical geometric patterns of blue, brown, green, red, white and yellow. Made for and collected by Professor Lawrence Rickard and Phyllis Wager during the British East Greenland Expedition, 1935-36.

Full description:

An embroidered, dark blue leather cartridge belt with white leather trim stitched with cotton thread to white textile backing on the inside face. The belt clasp consists of a semi-rectangluar piece of ivory with two oval perforations stitched with three loops of sinew to the outer surface of the belt and fastened to the opposite end of the belt via two leather thongs stitched with sinew to the inner, textile face with three caribou teeth on each for passing through the corresponding perforations in the ivory piece. Space for nine shotgun cartridges and fourteen rifle rounds is made in two separate red outer strips of leather with white trim and two white bands of leather along their length. The back is decorated with coloured leather avitat embroidery in three symmetrical geometric patterns of blue, brown, green, red, white and yellow.
