A knitted woollen jumper with collar, with bands of Fair Isle design in blue, white, yellow, red and black on a brown background. The jumper is hand-knitted. It is knitted in stocking stitch, with the bottom edge and collar in single rib, the cuffs in double rib, and an area of moss stitch at the opening of the collar. It has been made in the round with set-in sleeves. Inside the neck is a textile label reading 'FAIR ISLE – MADE IN FAIR ISLE // Shetland // HAND KNIT.' and 'SHETLAND WOOLLEN INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION // REGD TRADEMARK No. 432482'. The jumper has numerous patches of darning in green, grey and pink wool, especially around the cuffs and armpits, and on the right arm in particular.
