Image
Accession no.: Y: 2012/20/187
Object name: Chalk and charcoal sketch
Title: Liverpool Land snow peaks from Constable Pynt, North-East Greenland
Description: This sketch, of course, is not a Lyell Land sketch, and was completed at Constable Pynt during a delay in the prpogress to Lyell Land. The delay was such that they did not fly out on 22 July till 8pm, eventually arriving at Lyell Land at 10pm. The artist therefore had much time to complete this sketch of the Liverpool Land snow peaks, an area where so many of the Arcturus expeditions had travelled by dog sled and ski in spring of previous years. On his first visit to Constable Pynt in 1989 the flat plain in the foreground had been covered by oil prospectors' tents.
