Image
Accession no.: Y: 2012/20/179
Object name: Chalk and charcoal sketch
Title: Ravnedalen Sirius Hut and Peak, Dove Bugt, NE Greenland, August 2006
Description: This sketch was completed while the expedition waited for the wind to drop before the Zodiac could venture across Inderbredningen to our subsidiary camp at Fangersund. It shows Peak 1100, climbed by Bill corner, in more detail. Sadly we believe that this is the peak, overlooking Kap Niels, from which Captain Hans Jensen of the Royal Danish Navy fell to his death in early 1953. Hans Jensen was the only Danish member of the British NE Greenland expedition to Dronning Louise Land 1952-54.
Medium: Chalk and charcoal sketch
Artist: Woolmore, Ray
Note: Looking north from Ravnedalen Base Camp and Sirius Hut to Peak 1100, Dove Bugt. Lat. 76°19'N, long. 21°50'W. (Kalaallit Nunaat Gronland 1:100,000 Sheet 76 Ø.1 SV)
