a: One pair, man's, knee-length, made of seal skin. Sole is made from a single piece of partially dehaired dark brown seal skin which is turned over the foot and crimped around the toe and heel. Upper foot is made from a single piece of seal skin with the cream hair to the exterior. A narrow strip of partially dehaired dark brown seal skin is inserted into seam around upper edge of sole. Leg section is made from a single piece of haired seal skin seamed vertically down centre back. Panel consisting of 8 vertical rectangles of cream seal hair separated by horizontal rectangular pieces of dark brown hair and flanked by vertical row of dark brown hair is inserted down centre front. 30 mm wide horizontal strip of dark brown seal hair and a 33 mm wide strip of cream seal hair are added across the upper edge. A 44 mm wide casing of white canvas is attached to the straight upper edge. Braided wool yarn tie (orange, purple, red, green) is threaded through casing emerging through two holes at the centre back. End of each tie terminates in an orange and green wool yarn tassel. Structural sewing is with sinew and thread.
