Full description:

A 12-foot wooden sledge, made mostly of ash with hickory runners. It consists of two wooden runners, curving up at each end, with a strengthening rib of bamboo tied to each. A bent cane pole, wrapped with string, curves around the front of the sledge and lashed with cord and covered with leather where it meets the runners and ribs. Five uprights are secured into each runner and rib and tied with leather. At each of these is a wooden cross bar which is lashed in place with leather. Three long leather straps with large metal buckles are fitted at intervals across the sledge. A trace rope is wrapped around the front set of uprights and tied with string.
