A 1:4 scale model of a soft runner sledge (Nansen sledge) as used by the British Graham Land Expedition 1934-37 (Penola). The front of the sledge is bow-shaped. It is made of wood and cane, with metal cross struts between the handlebars, and string lashings (the originals were of tarred twine). |
