An empty wooden ration box with a hinged lid (two hinges) and a metal catch on either side to hold the lid closed. The lid is stencilled in black with 'B.G.L.E. // SLEDGE RATIONS', and painted in black with 'V' and in green with 'WANTED'. There is a painted grey patch on the lid, with 'B.B. ROBERTS. // BISHOPGARTH. // WOKING. // ENGLAND' painted in red. Each end is marked in black with '7'. There are the remains of paper carriage labels on the lid and the end. |
