a: One pair, child's. Boots (a,b) are made from three main pieces of seal skin. A single piece of dark brown partially dehaired seal skin forms the sole, which is turned over the sides of the foot and crimped at the heel. A ridge of dehaired cream seal skin is inserted into the seam between the sole and upper foot. A single piece of lighter brown dehaired seal skin forms the upper foot and leg section seamed vertically down centre front and across instep. A 12 mm wide band of cream dehaired seal skin overlays seam at center front; a 37 mm wide band of same is attached to straight upper edge. Stockings (c,d) are inserted into boots. Each is made from seal skin with the fur to the interior and extend 43 mm above the top of the boot. 55 mm wide band of seal skin with the fur to the exterior is sewn to straight upper edge. Structural sewing is with sinew and beige thread.
