Full description:

a: One pair, man's, knee-length. Boots (a,b) are made from three pieces of cream dehaired seal skin. A single piece (bearded - typed register) forms the sole which is turned over the sides of the foot and crimped around the toe and heel. A second piece of same forms the upper foot, forming a point at front of leg. Leg section (fjord - typed register) is made from one piece of same seamed vertically along centre front. Slit in skin, forming a loop, is made at the seam on each side of foot 85 mm from toe. Seal skin thong (on on a only) crosses the foot and is threaded and tied through loops. Thong (on b) is missing. Skin at straight upper edge is turned to the interior to form a casing. Dehaired seal skin thong is threaded through casing emerging from two holes at the back. Holes in skin are patched on the exterior with cream dehaired sealskin sewn with sinew and beige thread. Stockings (c,d) are inserted into boots and extend above upper edge. Each is made from sheep skin with the fur to the interior. An additional strip of polar bear skin is sewn to the upper edge of each stocking. Grass, inserted between boot and stocking, can be seen through hole in sole (b). Evidence of wear on soles.
