Full description: |
One of a pair, man's, calf-length. Boot is made from three pieces of dark brown dehaired seal skin. A single piece forms the sole which is turned over the sides of the foot and crimped around the toe. A second piece of same forms the upper foot and leg section seamed vertically along centre front and across instep. A 51 mm wide band of same is attached to straight upper edge. Slit in skin, forming a loop, is made at seam on each side of foot 90 mm from toe. Seal skin thong is threaded through loops, crosses the foot, is wound around the heel and threaded through two ivory buttons at centre front. Stocking (N: 112d) is inserted into boot. Structural sewing is with sinew. Evidence of wear on soles. |
