Full description: |
A white textile man-hauling harness. It consists of a white canvas body belt, made of a double layer of fabric, with a metal eyelet at either end (although one is missing). It has two crossed textile and leather shoulder straps, stitched to the belt at the back, and secured with a metal buckle at the front (the buckle is missing on one side and the strap has been stitched directly to the belt). A length of rope goes all the way around the belt, secured at intervals with stitching, and is spliced together at the back; a second length of rope passes through the eyelets and is spliced together. The two ropes then run together, tied together at intervals with string. The end of one rope is wrapped round with string; the other ends with a wooden toggle and a leather thong.
