Full description:

A rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid (two metal hinges along the short edge). There are two wooden battens running cross-wise on the base, and two running lengthways on the lid. The long edges of the base are reinforced with strips of metal (lead). The long edges of the top of the box are reinforced with strips of metal which extend to sit flush with the lid and the front edge of the lid has a right-angled strip of metal fixed to it – both of these have holes drilled in them for fixing nails/screws to hold the lid closed.
