Title: Dog chain
Description: A dog chain made at H.M. Dockyard, Chatham for the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1945. This type of chain was supplied to Base D (Hope Bay) and Base E (Stonington Island). The chain is stored in a cotton bag marked 'Camp and Sports Cooperators'.

Full description:

chain: A length of dog chain with a hook and swivel at one end and a ring at the other. The links are twisted, rather than flat. The chain was made from odd parts obtained from various stores, and includes a swivel, a circular ring, three oval rings and two metal pieces with crossed slits (which came from a horse harness).

bag: A cream-coloured rectangular cotton bag with two cotton ties, printed in the bottom corner with 'CAMP AND SPORTS // COOPERATORS LTD. // LONDON, N.W.10'.
