Serves as a vehicle to cooperate on species and habitat management and utilisation, to share information on management techniques and regulatory regimes, and to facilitate more knowledgeable decision-making.

International Northern Sea Route Program (INSROP) 1993-1999 International research programme designed to create an extensive knowledge base about shipping lanes running along the coast of the Russian Arctic from Novaya Zemlya in the west to the Bering Strait in the east.
International Union for Circumpolar Health International non-governmental organisation, set up for the exchange of medical knowledge, with members, adhering bodies and affiliates throughout the circumpolar regions. Has a particular focus on the health problems and needs of northern peoples.
