Abstract: | Presents broad picture of present state of glaciers along Himalayan chain and describes features of glacial geology indicative of pattern of Pleistocene glaciation. Evidence suggests that terminal thinning by ablation and surface lowering has taken place in this century, especially in recent decades. Provides basis for consideration of global warming, discussed in same volume. |
