Abstract: Brief survey of Inuit migrations to Greenland and of effect of climatic variations on Inuit cultures. Cultural and social mechanisms have permitted adaptation to changing conditions. It is maintained that international measures must now be taken to protect Arctic environment and Inuit culture.
