| Abstract: | Based on January-March 1988 cruise between 55° S and the ice edge and 105° E and 115° E. Preliminary analyses suggest: density and school size increases sharply close to pack ice; sexually mature females congregate in pack ice and immature animals in offshore waters, while sexually mature males are in both areas; small or immature animals tend to be solitary while larger or mature males form larger schools with similar sized females. |
