Record #98852:

Effect of surface ice-driven haline convection on underlying stratification / J.F. Atkinson.

Title: Effect of surface ice-driven haline convection on underlying stratification / J.F. Atkinson.
Author(s): Atkinson, J. F.
Date: 1989.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1989.), Vol. 70(43) (1989)
Abstract: Describes experiment in which saline solutions were frozen from above to induce formation of haline convection cells or filaments. Two-layer salinity stratification was established before ice formation was initiated and interaction between filaments and underlying stratification is described. Implications for sea-ice modelling are discussed.
Notes:

Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 70(43) :1156-1157 (1989).

Abstract for AGU Fall Meeting, December 4-8, 1989.

Keywords: 551.326.7 -- Sea ice.
54 -- Chemistry.
551.326 -- Floating ice.
E6 -- Glaciology: floating ice.
