Record #98553:

On modeling the energetics of the ridging process / M.A. Hopkins, William D. Hibler, III.

Title: On modeling the energetics of the ridging process / M.A. Hopkins, William D. Hibler, III.
Author(s): Hopkins, M. A.
Hibler, William D.,
Date: 1989.
Publisher: New York: American Society of Mechanical Engineers
In: Proceedings of the Eighth International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering--1989--The Hague, The Netherlands, March 19-23, 1989. Vol. 4. Arctic and polar technology. (1989.),
Abstract: Develops discrete element model and uses for numerical simulation of pressure ridging process in sea ice. Rubble blocks are idealized as cylinders and unbroken parent ice sheet is taken to be vertically rigid. Possible to keep track explicitly of frictional and collisional energy losses.
Notes:

In: Proceedings of the Eighth International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering--1989--The Hague, The Netherlands, March 19-23, 1989. Vol. 4. Arctic and polar technology / Nirmal K. Sinha, Devinder S. Sodhi, Jin S. Chung, eds.

Keywords: 551.32 -- Glaciology.
551.326 -- Floating ice.
551.326.3 -- Floating ice, structure and surface features.
519.673 -- Modelling.
