| Abstract: | Discusses eight promising regions for potential commercial production of oil and/or gas identified on eastern Siberian Platform: Yenisey-Khatanga trough, Baykit anteclize, Evenki sineclize (all in Krasnoyarskiy Kray), Lena-Anabar trough, Vilyuy sineclize, Anabar and Aldan anteclizes (all in Yakutskaya ASSR), Nepa-Botuobuya anteclize (mainly in Irkutskaya Oblast', but extending into south-west Yakutiya), Chukotka and Kamchatka. Soviet far east should be able to halve costly import of oil from west Siberia by end of century, but there is no evidence that large-scale commercial development of eastern Siberian oil and gas resources is envisaged before well into next century. |
