Abstract: Two exploratory wells have been drilled in Barents Sea, north of 73°N. In order to maintain safe and economical operation, strategy must be developed for effective forecasting and response to threat of ice. Describes ice conditions as they affect marine structures and operations, and compares to conditions in Canadian waters. Adoption and applicability of Canadian management to Barents Sea are discussed.
