Record #98328:

Ice loss in the ablation area of a Himalayan glacier; studies on Miar glacier, Karakoram mountains, Pakistan / G.J. Young, Jeffrey P. Schmok.

Title: Ice loss in the ablation area of a Himalayan glacier; studies on Miar glacier, Karakoram mountains, Pakistan / G.J. Young, Jeffrey P. Schmok.
Author(s): Young, G. J.
Schmok, Jeffrey P.
Date: 1989.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1989.), Vol. 13 (1989)
Abstract: Estimation of ice loss in ablation areas of Himalayan glaciers should enable better prediction of stream flow in Indus river. To this end, Miar glacier was intensively studied during summers 1986 and 1987. Describes method of measurement used, based on monopulse radar, which overcomes problems of remoteness and altitude.
