| Abstract: | Describes extensive floods that have occurred in 1938, 1944, 1948, and 1962, resulting in damage to nearby settlement, which has now been abandoned. Discusses protective work that has been done and could have been improved upon to avoid abandonment of settlement, and stresses importance of thorough investigations when glacier-dammed lakes begin to cause flood problems. |
