Acoustic measurements on soaked soils during thaw and unfrozen water content determination / M.H. Deschâtres, F. Cohen-Tenoudji, J. Aguirre-Puente.
Title: | Acoustic measurements on soaked soils during thaw and unfrozen water content determination / M.H. Deschâtres, F. Cohen-Tenoudji, J. Aguirre-Puente. |
Author(s): | Deschâtres, M. H. Cohen-Tenoudji, F. Aguirre-Puente, J. |
Date: | 1989. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Ground freezing 88. Proceedings of the Fifth International Symposium on Ground Freezing, Nottingham, 28-28 July 1988. (1989.), Vol. 2. |
Abstract: | Summary of poster presentation. Ultrasonic longitudical wave velocities were measured in kaolinite samples from -20°C to ambient temperature. Results examined in light of model based on compressibilities of three constituents of porous medium, i.e. solid grains, ice, unfrozen water. This leads to evaluation of unfrozen water content and mean thickness of unfrozen water film around grains. |
