Record #98222:

A two-dimensional coupled ice-ocean model of the Bering Sea marginal ice zone / Lakshmi H. Kantha, George L. Mellor.

Title: A two-dimensional coupled ice-ocean model of the Bering Sea marginal ice zone / Lakshmi H. Kantha, George L. Mellor.
Author(s): Kantha, Lakshmi H.
Mellor, George L.
Date: 1989.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1989.), Vol. 94(C8) (1989)
Abstract: Ultimate objective of this study and companion by Mellor and Kantha (ibid., idem, p.10,937-10,954) is development of general-purpose, coupled ice-ocean model with realistic dynamical and thermodynamic coupling, simple ice rheology, and fully three-dimensional, multilevel ocean general circulation model subcomponent for parameterization of ice-ocean interactions. In this paper, intermediate step is described, in which model is developed suitable for simulation of local ice-edge processes in marginal ice zone as well as circulation in large ice-covered ocean body (Arctic) under very general conditions.
