Abstract: Mapping of areas exposed to avalanche hazard was started in 1986 for benefit of large-scale military exercises held annually in north Norway. All potential avalanche areas are indicated on maps, and mapping is carried out by computer using terrain model and digital maps. Interactive graphic work station is used to outline danger areas. Usual scale: 1:50 000 with 20 m contour intervals.
