Record #97708:

Multi-year ice thickness in the Beaufort Sea / David F. Dickins.

Title: Multi-year ice thickness in the Beaufort Sea / David F. Dickins.
Author(s): Dickins, David F.
Date: 1989.
Publisher: Luleå: Tekniska Högskolan i Luleå
In: POAC 89 : the 10th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions. June 12-16 1989, Luleå, Sweden [Vols. 1 & 2]. (1989.), Vol.1.
Abstract: 14 floes ranging in size from 220 m to 2.2 km were profiled in April 1982 in 200 m of water offshore of Banks Island, using manual drilling and sonar profiling. Data were analyzed to provide overall thickness distributions and to evaluate localized edge geometry of floes. Results showed median multiyear ice thickness of 4.1 m with upper decile value of 6.5 m. Statistically significant trend to thinner ice within 5 m of floe edge.
