Record #97361:
Ice-induced vibrations of structures / Devinder S. Sodhi.
Title: | Ice-induced vibrations of structures / Devinder S. Sodhi. |
Author(s): | Sodhi, Devinder S. |
Date: | 1989. |
Publisher: | Hanover, NH: US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory |
In: | CRREL Special Report. (1989.), Vol. 89-5 (1989) |
Abstract: | Vertical structures are often placed in environments where they are subjected to action of floating ice. Under certain conditions, they vibrate as results of interaction with moving ice cover. Various theories and concepts have been proposed to explain ice-induced vibration, which are here reviewed. |
Notes: | CRREL Special Report. Vol. 89-5 :189-221 (1989). Part of report prepared by IAHR Working Group on Ice Forces on Structures. Originally presented in Vol. 2 of proceedings of 9th International Symposium on Ice, held in August 1988 at Sapporo, Japan. |
Keywords: | 624.145.1 -- Floating ice, thrust. 626/627 -- Engineering, hydraulic. E12 -- Glaciology: frozen ground / snow and ice engineering. |
